A selection of Rupert’s Alpha series was chosen to appear at the Auckland Art Fair this year. A series of 24 individual pieces, the name references the Greek alphabet (all titles have a Greek letter) while also nodding towards the classically-inspired colonial heritage of these pieces, as they would have originally been used.

Over the course of 6 months, Rupert took part in TVNZ's Design Junkies series. Design Junkies is a competition – six designers have six weeks to prove they are the best designer of them all. They compete against each other in challenges, using scraps and other salvaged materials to create innovative designs while working to a brief.
